“Reel Action Festival” announces winners of amateur film contest

Columbia, SC As part of the "Reel Action" Festival of Film and Outdoors, Palmetto Conservation and the Nickelodeon Theater of Columbia hosted a film contest highlighting the outdoors! Amateur film makers were asked to show off their skills in entertaining films set in or about nature and the exhilarating outdoors. 

 

After an extensive review of the 15 entries by a panel of film judges, the Reel Action Festival is pleased to announce its winners.  In first place, winning a 500 dollar cash prize is Cole Cassell with his movie “Fishin 4 Free.”  Coming in a close second is Bobby Baker with his film entitled “Magical Creatures of the Wood.”  Mr. Baker will be receiving a 200 dollar cash prize. Third, fourth, and fifth places respectively are “Dos Semanas en Costa Rica” by Seth Richardson, “Adventure SX” by Michael McClendon and Phillip Soellner, and “Night of the Tree-Hugging Dead” by Christopher Cook.  These filmmakers will each receive a $100 dollar gift card to a local outfitter.

 

These five winning films will be screened at Columbia's Nickelodeon Theater on October 11, 2008 at 5 pm.  Come and join us for this fun night in celebration of these filmmakers.  Tickets will be $5 per person.
