Recreation

Palmetto Conservation uses its experience in trail and greenway planning to advocate for bicycle-pedestrian infrastructure, public spaces and new public policies in many communities. We also consult with state, county and municipal agencies to increase awareness and promote these issues.

Of the many PCF community projects, perhaps the most well known is the Palmetto Trail. Stretching from Mountains to the Sea, this ongoing project will run 425 miles and is one of only 13 cross-state trails in the United States. It is open to pedestrians, bicyclists and, in some places, equestrians. It serves as the “spine” for a statewide active transportation network connecting historic sites, important natural landscapes, and many communities.
