Palmetto Conservation Corps Director Selected for Leadership Columbia Class of 2021
Columbia, SC (August 3, 2020) — Rachel Price, AmeriCorps Program Director at Palmetto Conservation Foundation, has been selected for the Leadership Columbia Class of 2021. Price has been a dedicated staff member at Palmetto Conservation for five years and has been a Midlands resident for her entire life.
After graduating with Leadership Distinction in Community Service from the University of South Carolina Honors College with an environmental science degree in 2014, Price spent a year serving the community as an AmeriCorps VISTA. Directly after completing her own AmeriCorps year, she joined the Palmetto Trail staff and was instrumental in the development of a brand new AmeriCorps program for South Carolina: The Palmetto Conservation Corps. The Palmetto Conservation Corps is the only program of its kind in South Carolina- focusing in environmental stewardship and building the conservation leaders of tomorrow as members work in the state’s public lands.
Price is a member of the Junior League of Columbia, served on the board of the Environmental Education Association of South Carolina, and is an ongoing volunteer with foster programs at Pawmetto Lifeline.
Price is passionate about leaving a positive impact on the community she has called home for her entire life. She is eager to expand her leadership skills through the Leadership Columbia program and intends to use the skills she gains with the Chamber of Commerce as tools for her continued service to the entire state of South Carolina.

About Palmetto Conservation Foundation
Palmetto Conservation Foundation was founded in 1989 and exists to conserve South Carolina’s natural and cultural resources, preserve historic landmarks and promote outdoor recreation on the Palmetto Trail and other greenways. The Palmetto Conservation Corps began in 2016. The Corps completes service work on the Palmetto Trail, through public lands, in communities and with various organizations throughout the state.
