Be Prepared
Carry basic safety items such as fire starters, a flashlight, and a whistle, even for a day hike. If worst comes to worst, the warmth of a fire and a hot drink can help prevent hypothermia. Fire is also a great way to signal for help if you get lost. If lost, you’ll also want the whistle as it is more effective than using your voice to call for help (use three short bursts for SOS). And just in case you’re out later than planned, a flashlight/headlamp is a must-have item to see your map and where you’re walking.
trail-ale RJ Rockers is excited to be able to play a role in finishing the Trail. It is exciting to partner with people who are passionate about what they are doing. That passion pays off as we look forward to the State of South Carolina having a great hiking trail!

IF HIKING IN A GROUP, don’t take up the whole width of the trail; allow others to pass.
