Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op Passage winds through remote and rugged areas, and rewards hikers with an abundance of native flowers and wildlife, mountaintop vistas, waterfalls, and an impressive boulder field. The passage begins at Pinnacle Pavilion (“The Barn”) in Table Rock State Park and travels through the Wesleyan Camp into the Jocassee Gorges. According to Native American legend, Jocassee means “Place of the Lost One,” a description worth heeding. The Jocassee Gorges is owned by the SC Department of Natural Resources.

No mountain biking. Horseback riding allowed where the Palmetto Trail overlays existing roads. No motorized vehicles.

Entrance fees for Table Rock State Park: up to $5/adult; $3.25 for SC seniors; $3/child (6-15); $free/child (under 6).

Directions

Trailhead at Table Rock State Park: Traveling north from Greenville, SC, follow US Hwy 276 north through Travelers Rest, Marietta, and Cleveland. In Cleveland, US 276 merges with SC 11. Follow 276/11 out of Cleveland until the roads split — about 5 miles. Stay left on SC 11 to Table Rock State Park. Drive past the park visitor center on left and turn right onto West Gate Road. Turn right at the West Gate entrance (note fee station), left at the country store, and follow the road to its end. The Palmetto Trail trailhead and parking are located at the park’s Pinnacle Pavilion (formerly known as The Barn).



Camping

Fee camping is available at Table Rock State Park.



Notes

  • Parking is available only at Table Rock State Park.
  • Trail users should pack adequate food and water.
  • Hunting occurs in the Jocassee Gorges. Check with SC Department of Natural Resources for season dates.
